Wellness & Relaxation
Our destination is not only ideal for active persons but is also perfect for relaxation and embracing the slow pace of life. Whether it’s sitting by the lake with a book or by the fireplace while contemplating the forest, or simply listening to the sounds of nature, you can take the time to do exactly what you choose.
Saunas, Nordic baths and year-round lake swimming
Whether it’s enjoying the stillness of a summer morning, the vibrant colors of autumn, or the pristine white of a snowy landscape, life by the lake is a constant source of inspiration and enjoyment.
Finnish culture is deeply intertwined with living by the water. Lakes are cherished as places of tranquility, recreation, and connection to nature, forming the heart of many Finnish traditions. The scent of wood and the sounds of nature are always present.
One of the most iconic Finnish traditions is the sauna, often built near lakeshores. A sauna session followed by a refreshing plunge into the lake—whether in the gentle warmth of summer or the icy embrace of winter—is a practice rooted in Finnish culture. This ritual symbolizes cleansing, relaxation, and a connection to the elements.
We have three kinds of saunas in Jongunjoen Matkailu, two by the lake.

Saunas
Summer wood-heated Sauna
For individuals and small groups, the wood-heated sauna is ideal for relaxing in the summer evenings, combined with a swim on the lake and the Nordic bath, surrounded by a beautiful landscape.
Smoke Sauna
Our lakeside smoke sauna is suitable for groups and special events. This traditional sauna has a large changing and relaxing room, an outside terrace with a large 8-person wood-heated bath-tub, and own pier with swimming stairs for a refreshing bath in the lake. This is the traditional Finnish sauna!
Nordic bath (palju)
Nordic bath, Scandinavian bath, or Palju, as we call it in Finland, is an outdoor hot tub made of wood. The water is wood-heated up to about 38 degrees. It is a very relaxing experience we can offer our guests any time of the year, including wintertime. It can be combined with the sauna and a swim in the lake…
We have two Nordic baths in Jongunjoen Matkailu. A bigger bath with a capacity of 8 persons, and a smaller bath suitable for 1 to 5 persons.
